Set Up a Report for XBRL Generation
On the Disclosure Management website, users with the Power User or Admin license type can create XBRL projects to associate reports with an SEC or ESMA taxonomy, in order to tag the reports against the taxonomy.
Note: Users with the Power User license can only add XBRL projects for reports in the workspaces they own. Admin users can add XBRL projects for reports in all workspaces of the organization.
Create an XBRL Project
- From your dashboard or the Files tab in a workspace, click in the report row to open the details page of the report.
- Select the XBRL tab.
- Click the New Project button. The Create New Project wizard displays.
- The first step is to define basic information about the project:
- Project Name - Type a name for the project.
- Regulator - Select from the drop-down list the regulator you will report to, SEC or ESMA.
- File Type - Select from the drop-down list the form type of your filing report. To report to SEC, you can select from 10-K Annual, 10-K Quarterly, 8-K Current, and 20-F Foreign; to report to ESMA, the type can be Annual Financial or Half-Year.
- Fiscal Year End - Click the calendar icon to specify the end date of your reporting fiscal year.
- Due Date - Click the calendar icon to specify the due date of your filing report.
- Click Next to go to the Report & Taxonomy step.
- In the Taxonomy Starting Point box, select from the available taxonomies to use for the report.
- If you have an iXBRL inline HTML document of a previous filing for the report, you can select Include a past filing as reference and upload the document to the project. This can help Lineos DM to prepopulate the tagging mappings and thus provide more accurate tag suggestions for the report in the XBRL Hub.
- Once you select an extension taxonomy, the prefix (for SEC)/short name (for ESMA) and URI of the company defined in the extension taxonomy are automatically displayed in the Extension Taxonomy Settings box. Select the end of the reporting period, the taxonomy namespace is automatically populated.
- Click Next. The Entity & Periods step opens.
- In the Entity Identifier box, specify the CIK number (for SEC)/LEI code (for ESMA) and name of the reporting entity. You cannot change the identifier type.
- In the Reporting Periods box, review the instant dates and duration periods. You can add, edit, and delete the dates and periods.
- Click Next. The Units & Transforms step displays.
Review configuration of the element types defined in the extension taxonomy. You can also add, edit, and delete the element types as you need.
- Click Create Project. The report is now associated with the specified taxonomy. You can further edit the project or remove it by using the corresponding option in the ellipsis menu.
Add Exhibits to an XBRL Project
After creating an XBRL project for a report, you can append additional documents called exhibits to the project to add important information for the report. An exhibit is a mandatory document that is required by the regulatory body, along with the report itself, and is usually a Word document.
- In the XBRL tab of the report details page, click the ellipsis in the XBRL project and select Add Exhibit.
-
In the Add Exhibit dialog, select Word documents from the current workspace or upload .doc and .docx files to add to the project.
- Click Add Exhibit.
The exhibits you added to an XBRL project are listed in the Project Exhibits tab of the project. You can use the ellipsis menu to remove them if required.
Download Generated Document
When instance documents are generated for an XBRL report, you can also download them for submission from the Generated Documents tab of the XBRL project.
